The
interview
For the guest
feature today the UK's youngest male stripper, The Heart Throb,
joins me. You may have seen him last week on The Trisha Show
but today we have him here in the studio, with his clothes on.
At 20 years old this guy must have some real bottle doing the
full monty in and around the clubs and pubs of the south. So
how does he do it? Today I'll be getting a few things of my
chest if you'll excuse the pun, and exploring into the ventures
of life as a male stripper.
And here he is....
Hi Chris
Hi
So what do I call you then? Chris or The Heart Throb?
Chris will do
So what's this Heart Throb thing about then?
It's my stage
name. All strippers have a stage name.
I see. Ok then Chris. I think the first thing that myself and
the listeners all want to know is what on earth possessed you
to be a male stripper? Was it the Full Monty film or something?
Well it was a
great film but I don't think that was the reason.
So what would you say it was then?
I think the appeal
of having women going mad over you was the initial attraction,
that and doing loads of awful jobs with long hours and little
money.
Is the woman thing still the attraction
to you?
Um, not really, I mean yeh sometimes
it's great but most times the women begin to piss you off a
little.
So why do you do it then?
Its good for me as I'm doing
a full time degree so I can earn a good wage without doing all
the hours under the sun to keep financially afloat. So I can
have a lot of time to do my studying too. And I enjoy it too.
It's a real buzz.
So what are you studying then?
I'm doing a degree in Health and Fitness
Management.
Do you feel that you're forced to do it because of your
studies?
Oh no way. I mean you hear so many
stories in the paper about these girls that get into this sort
of thing to get through uni like it's their only way the're
gonna do it! I suppose people might think that I'm in the same
situation but that's not the case. I do this because I love
doing it, I love entertaining people and doing something that
they've never seen before. It can be a real buzz at times when
the crowd is on your side.
Would you do this if you weren't studying?
Well I began before I was studying
so yeh and I have no intention quitting when I finish.
You started stripping when you were quite young didn't you?
Yeah It was on my 17th birthday I began.
17? Most lads at the age are flipping burgers.
Rather them than me.
Now, you were on the Trisha show last week weren't you?
I was Tell us about that.
Well it was great exposure but it seemed
more like I was on a soap than a talk show.
A soap?
Well it was all like, you've got to
say this and he's going to say that. I thought I was meant to
be talking about being the countries youngest male stripper
not doing an episode of Jerry Springer.
So it didn't go the way you expected then?
Not really no.
But it was good exposure though?
Well yes and no really. Yes I did get
national recognition and made the front page of the local paper
but no because the producers tried to make me look like this
bad stereotypical stripper.
And did they?
Well I don't think they did as seemed
all a bit phoney and scripted but some people might not have
seen it that way
So you wont be doing the Trisha show again then?
Well I would but I'd like to know what
the shows about before I go on it again!
Ok Chris, tell us about what you do, where do you
strip?
I'm mostly in
the south. I do nightclubs, pubs people's houses allsorts really.
Anywhere someone wants a stripper, I'll be there.
So you do peoples private parties then?
Yeh I do private
parties for birthday's hen nights leaving parties all sorts
of occasions.
My perception, and I think most other peoples, of a male stripper
that we all familiarise with is the scenario of the Full Monty
movie with hundreds of screaming women and knickers being thrown.
Is it really like that?
Well they do get a little carried away
but I haven't had any knickers thrown at me yet. If I am doing
a show then the girls can get a bit hectic but if I am doing
a strippogram then girls are normally like 'whose he and what
the hell is he doing taking his clothes off in here!' I suppose
that it gets wild in the troops sometimes but I don't belong
to any. It's something I would like to have a go at in the future
though.
Troops?
Yeah like the groups of guys that tour
around together like The Dream Boys and Chippendales.
I see. You mentioned about strippograms and shows, what's
the difference between them?
A show is where the girls come to the
venue to specifically see strippers, the're normally ticketed
events. I do dance routines and get the girls up on stage and
we all have a bit of fun. A stripogram is where I come dressed
as a fireman, policeman or something like that and do a strip
for someone's birthday, hen party or what ever the occasion
might be. It's normally a surprise for the girl involved so
I don't really get a big audience.
So what on earth does your mum think of all this?
She's cool with it. I think she's proud
of her son.
And your dad?
Yeah he's cool with it too. We all
have a good laugh about it around the house. I'm trying to get
a father and son thing up together with him but he's not having
it!
I wonder why? And the girlfriend, what does she make
of all this?
There is no girl friend.
No girlfriend?
No. There's not many girls out there
who like the thought of other women perving at their man. Plus
I don't think many women would trust a male stripper anyway.
And would you like a woman in your life right now?
Well I'm not really looking for one
but you never know when one might come along..
Would you give up stripping for the right woman?
If she was my right woman she wouldn't
want me to give up.
Well that's fair enough. Well listen Chris; it's been
great to have you with us today
Thank you
I hope everything goes well for you
Thanks
And good luck with the future and who knows we might
see Heart Throb and father at a venue near us soon.
You never know.
